Sinikello Daycare Centre, Kuopio
Completed in Puijonlaakso, Kuopio, Sinikello Daycare represents the best of modern and environmentally responsible timber construction.
This two-storey daycare facility, built to accommodate ten child groups, offers functional and healthy spaces for children – crafted from natural materials without compromising on durability. The project was carried out as a collaborative design-build contract (KVR). The load-bearing structure, made from non-settling laminated logs, combined with P1 fire class solutions, enhances the building’s longevity and fire safety. The extensive use of wood significantly reduces lifecycle carbon emissions, and environmental responsibility was a guiding principle throughout the construction process – both in planning and on-site operations.
