Scandic Grand Central, Helsinki
Located at Helsinki’s Central Railway Station, the former head office of the Finnish railway company VR is being converted into a hotel, slated for completion in 2022.

Designed by the renowned architect Eliel Saarinen, the building is being renovated and altered under the guidance of the Finnish Heritage Agency, with a view to preserving the original features. The building’s façades, corridors, staircases and some of the rooms were imaged using laser scanning to assist in the design work. In the planning, special attention was paid to moisture control as part of work managed by a designated moisture control coordinator.
