Two orange 'Rokkiporkkana' bridges have been completed in the Hyväntoivonpuisto park located in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki.

Rokkiporkkana-bridges, Helsinki

The pedestrian and cycle traffic overpass built on the Länsisatamankatu side continues the safe route towards the seashore and forms a major regional connection route. Like its predecessor, the flyover is orange and multi-dimensional. “The new bridge continues the story of the wonderful thing that lived under the park, an orc, which was the starting point of the design of the Hyväntoivonpuisto. Both bridges are like the same orc orange spine revealed beneath the ground. The colour scheme and aesthetics of sea containers and harbour cranes were also applied to the bridges. Although overpasses bear a lot of resemblance to each other, they are not identical. The future Länsisatamankatu bridge will be shorter and narrower than the Rokkicarrot Bridge, which was introduced in 2018. The length of the new bridge is 37 meters. It is narrower than its predecessor in the middle, and on the north side the base deck of the bridge branches into two sections. The main designer of the bridge commissioned by the City of Helsinki is, like the first Rokkicarrot bridge, VSU landscape architects. The structural design of the skill structures was provided by Ponvia, a member of A-Insinöörit. The bridge is illuminated spectacularly. Led light strips integrated into bridge superstructures illuminate the bridge deck, spotlight retaining walls attached to the substructures. The lighting design was the responsibility of A-Insinöörit, Plaana, part of A-Insinöörit.
