Pohjola OP, Oulu
The new office building for Pohjola Osuuspankki and modern residential tower Graadi bring vitality to the heart of Oulu, as the new building, with its high-quality architecture and adapted to the culturally and historically valuable environment, combines office and commercial premises, a 51-apartment tower block and two underground floors of parking and technical facilities.

The new building project, which is of a high standard in terms of urban design and develops the vitality of the city centre of Oulu, has been prepared in close cooperation with the City of Oulu, including through the 2021 architectural competition. The project will be implemented thoughtfully and with respect for the surrounding protected buildings of Puistola and Kalevankulma, as well as the cultural history of the area. Due to the need to protect adjacent valuable buildings, the construction, especially the foundation construction, is technically very demanding. The project has also actively considered life-cycle costs and carbon emissions. The goal is a 100-year service life. Picture: Sweco
