Old Freight Station, Tampere
The relocation of this entire 113-year-old iconic Tampere brick building weighing thousands of tonnes in one piece presented a process that was the first of its kind.
The successful execution required in-depth expertise of structural dynamics, precision dimensioning calculations, and careful management of settlement differences during the various stages of the relocation. Compared to mega projects, the project was relatively small in scale, but nonetheless it tested all aspects of engineering skills to their utmost.
