Linnanniemi, Turku
The current port area of Linnanniemi in Turku will undergo a significant transformation by the end of the decade.

The completion of the new ferry terminal and the decommissioning of the Viking terminal by 2028, as well as the new alignment of the railway leading to the port, will enable the development of the district as Turku's maritime gateway. The first new building in the area will be the joint terminal for shipping companies, which will be completed in 2027. The Museum of History and the Future is expected to open its doors in 2030. The area will become Turku's first art district. An international idea competition was organized in 2020 for the development of the area. Based on the idea competition, a draft zoning plan for Linnanniemi was prepared in 2024. The role for A-Insinöörit was to prepare a feasibility analysis of the draft zoning plan and alternative scenarios for further planning. A-Insinöörit created a Onesite city model of the area, conducted feasibility analyses, market dialogues, and defined alternative project entities and implementation models.
