Kuopio University Hospital (Kaari), Kuopio
In Kuopio, a new main building was designed for a central hospital.
It houses core functions such as operating theatres, an intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, and maternity wards. The Kaarisairaala project was challenging in terms of design and construction work, as the work was carried out while the hospital was in operation. In addition to the construction of the new buildings, the project involved renovation of premises with a gross floor area of 18,000 m².
