Suvilahti Industrial Area, Vaasa
We carried out land use planning for Suvilahti industrial area located in Vaasa, Finland.
We changed the zoning plan of the area to examine which parts and plots are usable and whether it is possible to expand the industrial area. The zoning plan and the zoning amendment were drawn up for an industrial area, a former landfill site. Previous studies on contaminated land were used in the planning process. For the existing industrial site, building rights were reduced and the plan also took into account the development of the closed landfill for recreational use, as well as other areas of urban engineering maintenance and protected green areas.
