Satamakatu 17, Tampere

Conversion from an industrial and office building into a residential unit.

The property was originally built as a knitted fabric and hosiery factory between 1905 and 1934. Around a quarter of the property will be demolished and replaced by a new block of flats. The entire building mass will be extended upwards by a two-storey timber element structure. Certain sections of the facade are subject to a preservation order. The old intermediate floors are to be rebuilt, making use of the existing frame where feasible. Services: Geotechnical engineering and as-built measurements; building survey; repair engineering and harmful substance analyses; new development design, concrete and timber structure and element design.
